Randy Ogden
I biked to Oceanside from Canada with my four dogs in 2018. My dream has been to build a structure in which culture and community could be cultivated and expressed. I have made it my mission to tackle adversity and injustice head-on by setting an example of what peaceful resolution looks like.
I would describe myself as a simple man yearning to be the change that I want to see in the world. I strive to live each day guided by compassion, patience, kindness, and love above everything. My personal philosophy is, “treat others how we want to be treated, take nothing from anyone, save it be respect and the above-stated ideals.”
Service is love and I love life, so naturally, my life is guided by service.
My life has been and is blessed. Every step I have taken to be where I am today has proven this. Cycling from Sarnia Ontario Canada to Oceanside San Diego California with my pack we have been backed by what has most apparently manifested itself as the guiding force of the universe.
The OCC is proof of what following our soul can and will do. Although I brought our initial group together it has now taken on a life of its own in which I, and the other founding members, have become small aspects in a community-wide vision.
I am excited to share my love with you.
What does Consciousness mean to you?
The capacity to notice the connection between all things, both obvious and imperceptible while utilizing the ability to act upon them.
Seren Dedola
Hi! I’m Seren (Serendipity) Dedola I was born and raised up and down the coast of California, since then I have traveled the world making music, working on farms, falling in love, and searching for meaning and purpose on this earth.
And boy has it been a journey. Now I find myself in Oceanside, CA surrounded by an amazing community, with my Debut Album “Honey” released out into the world, and still in that same search for meaning and purpose.
Which brings me to why I am a part of OCC. Throughout my travels, the many things that were always missing were community, groundedness and consistency. And that’s why we are here, to uphold one another in achieving our dreams, creating as much art as we can, and helping the community/ environment around us. The desire for Connection is the root of all human interaction, I believe. So when it really comes down to it the OCC ( Oceanside Conscious Collective) is a support system for humans to connect back to their humanness. Back to their hearts. And I am honored to be a part of that coming to fruition.
Andrea Angell
My name is Andrea Angell. I grew up on the East Coast, and had the privilege of calling Connecticut, England, and Boston home before moving to Oceanside in July of 2019. I am an artist, entrepreneur, and traveler. I work as a camera assistant on commercials and movies by trade, and I am also the owner of an Earth Wellness company called Truvival.
I have been on a path of getting to know myself, and my purpose for many years; I have been called to practices, places, and people that have helped me plant my feet deep in my consciousness, and in turn, strengthened my desire to help the world heal. This, I believe, is a simple truth: When we heal ourselves we heal the world. The root of our work starts within us, and when we have a strong community to support us in our healing and growth, we thrive.
The OCC, before it had a name, was that community for me. I found myself unwaveringly supported and accepted by a small group of people through all of my processes. Through that support, I have reconnected with my art, my voice, and discovered my ability to lead.
I define consciousness as the understanding of the interconnectedness of all things and the utilization of that understanding for the greater good. In many ways, it is trusting that you are always where you are meant to be. We have all taken extremely different paths, but in our search for our own truth, we have found each other. I am so blessed to be part of this growing community of beautiful, creative people and I cannot wait to see all of the magick that is in store.
Brody Walsh
Oh hey, I didn’t see you there. While I’ve got you, I might as well introduce myself. My name is Brody Thomas and I moved to Oceanside, CA from Boston, MA in the spring of 2019 to begin a career as a skatepark designer. I spent my time in Boston working towards a master’s degree in architecture, meeting people, and truly beginning my life as an artist.
Garrett Rutz
Hello! My name is Garrett Rutz, I was born in Oxnard, CA but was raised in the cul-de-sacs of Oceanside. To explain my journey to the present moment would require me to understand and grasp exactly who I am, who I’ve been, and who I will become; not an easy task! Nonetheless, I am happy to indulge in certain aspects of my life that I hold dear to whoever/whatever I am.
First, and foremost, I am a father to an amazing son(9 y/o). He is the central point in my life and I truly do not believe I would be who I have become without him, surely a blessing. Besides being a father, I am water polo coach, poet/writer, semi-practicing/non-conforming Buddhist, and just recently obtained my license as a skydiver. What brought me to now was years of turbulence, questioning of personal identity, private struggles with depression and mania, countless hours of joy, and an abundance of depravity; a true human experience. From all these endeavours in human behaviour, I regret nothing. It has paved the road to the man I am today: proud, humble, and continually seeking a higher-self.
This is what brought me to the Oceanside Conscious Collective, seeking a higher vibration through myself, and through the close friendships I have gained along the way. What started as an exchange of names and instagram handles, has now blossomed into a community of seekers of truth(whatever that may be). I strive to make my community a brighter, and lovelier place through community action, expression of self, and loving just as the great prophets loved those who persecuted them. I found that very such place in the community of my hometown, through the love and companionship of strangers, which today we call, the Oceanside Conscious Collective. Enjoy the journey, life is a beautiful gift we all deserve.
